We will attempt to verify your health insurance benefits, and or necessary authorizations for you. Please be aware, we cannot guarantee coverage or verify that definite eligibility of benefits conveyed to us or to you by your carrier will be accurate or complete. Payment of benefits are subject to all terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions of the member’s contract at the time of service.
At The Learning Tree ABA, we bill your health insurance for the services we provide. We are in network with all Maryland Medicaid plans and we accept most commercial insurance plans.
In many cases, there is no cost to you for our services. However, many commercial insurance plans have deductible or copay/coinsurance charges that you may be responsible for. During the intake process, we are transparent about any potential costs and, if necessary, we work with you to come up with a payment plan that works for you. Our priority is to provide high-quality ABA therapy, and we never want the cost to be a barrier to your child’s success.
Following the initial ABA assessment, you will receive a Case Coordination via email which contains all the details of your child’s treatment schedule along with the names and contact information of your child’s providers. Along with the Case Coordination, you will receive a profile letter of introduction for each provider with a photo, contact information, and brief biographical blurb. In most situations, any questions or concerns you have regarding your child’s treatment and behavior plan should be directed to your child’s BCBA. We also provide each family with a dedicated Care Coordinator who is responsible for coordinating your child’s ABA therapy services and who will be your go-to contact for all non-clinical matters pertaining to your child’s care. And, finally, if you ever need to contact our main office, you can always reach us at (410) 205 – 9493 and we will be happy to assist in whatever way we can.
As a parent, you play an integral role in your child’s treatment. Our Parent Training sessions, conducted by your child’s BCBA, gives you the opportunity to learn about your child’s treatment, progress, and what you can do to reinforce your child’s learning throughout their day. It also gives the BCBA an opportunity to learn from you more about your child and what progress/issues you are noticing as the treatment progresses. Your participation in our Parent Training sessions is vital to the success of your child’s overall progress. Parent Training sessions will typically be scheduled 2-4 times monthly, depending on the need, and may include the participation of your child, giving you the opportunity to learn and practice effective ABA techniques.
We work with our families to ensure that we schedule your child’s therapy sessions at a time that is both beneficial for the child and convenient for the family. During our intake process, we collaborate with you to establish a consistent ongoing schedule of therapy that optimizes your child’s learning. We also regularly check in with you to make sure that the schedule is working for you and we make adjustments as needed.
When our therapists first begin working one-on-one with your child, they will focus most importantly on pairing, which is establishing a strong and positive rapport with your child. Pairing creates the foundation of learning and helps ensure that the therapy will be effective. ABA sessions are conducted on a regular basis and with consistency. Using a “natural environment teaching” method, our ABA sessions are geared toward teaching skills and behavior that are relevant to your child’s everyday functioning, while at the same time, introducing new experiences and learning opportunities to your child. The therapists use lots of positive reinforcement, tailored to your child’s specific interests, to encourage optimal learning. While working with your child, the therapists will regularly track progress to help ensure that the treatment is producing measurable results.
After the initial ABA assessment is completed, your child will be assigned to a therapist, referred to as a Behavior Technician (BT). The BT will be the one working one-on-one with your child on a regular basis implementing the treatment plan. Many of our behavior technicians are board-certified as Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) or are actively in the process of obtaining their RBT status. Your child’s therapist works under the supervision of a state-licensed Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who serves as the team leader providing regular supervision, parent training, and ongoing treatment planning tailored to your child’s needs.

Below are the types of professionals who are qualified to evaluate and diagnose ASD:
- Pediatricians: Often the first to notice developmental concerns, pediatricians can identify early signs of ASD and refer families to specialists for a full evaluation.
- Developmental Pediatricians: These physicians specialize in child development and behavioral health and are highly experienced in diagnosing ASD.
- Nurse Practitioners (NPs): With the right training and clinical background, NPs can participate in the assessment and diagnosis of developmental disorders, including autism.
- Pediatric Neurologists: Focused on neurological development, these specialists assess conditions like ASD in the context of brain function and behavior.
- Child Psychiatrists: Trained to evaluate and manage mental health conditions in children, child psychiatrists can offer a comprehensive assessment for ASD.
- Clinical Psychologists: These professionals conduct in-depth psychological evaluations and are qualified to diagnose autism through standardized testing and behavioral observation.
- Neuropsychologists: With advanced expertise in how brain function impacts behavior, neuropsychologists provide valuable insights during the diagnostic process.
Some developmental delays can indicate autism and may warrant further testing. In younger children, typical signs of autism may include poor (or avoidant) eye contact; delayed speech; repetitive behaviors and fixations; unusual and intense reactions to sounds, smells, tastes, textures, lights and/or colors; and difficulties with transitions. Keep in mind that these signs may be “red flags” but do not automatically indicate that your child has autism. Consult with your child’s pediatrician if you have concerns.
ASD is a condition characterized by deficits in 3 primary areas: social skills, speech and nonverbal communication, and restrictive/repetitive behaviors. Although these are known as the “core deficits” of autism, ASD actually encompasses a very broad range of symptoms and can look very different from one individual to another. Each individual with ASD has distinct strengths and challenges and addressing an individual’s challenges requires a plan customized to that individual.
Any child between 18 months and 21 years old with a qualifying autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis may be eligible for our ABA therapy services. Our intake coordinator is available to answer your questions about eligibility and to discuss if our services are right for your child.
At The Learning Tree ABA, we provide a comprehensive treatment protocol to best ensure successful outcomes. Our treatment model includes:
- Initial ABA Assessment: The purpose of this initial assessment, conducted by a Board-certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), is to learn about your child and what we will be addressing in treatment. A comprehensive treatment plan is then written up which guides the treatment process.
- Direct-Care: This is the ongoing therapeutic intervention, guided by the treatment plan, aimed at building your child’s skills and reducing unwanted behaviors.
- Supervision: Your child’s therapist will be supervised by a BCBA who will track your child’s progress, oversee sessions on a regular basis, and provide guidance.
- Parent Training: The BCBA assigned to supervise your child’s treatment will meet with you regularly to discuss your child’s progress and to guide you on reinforcing what your child is learning. (See below: What is Parent Training?)
- Ongoing Treatment Planning and Assessment: As your child progresses through treatment, we adjust the treatment plan as needed to meet your child where they are and to ensure the most effective step-by-step progress.

Our trained therapists apply the methods of ABA in a fun and engaging way to encourage maximum participation and learning.
